As we come to the end of the decade, we are leaving behind trends such as deep V-neck t-shirts, chin straps, baggy jeans and Crocs. All things we are happy to leave behind, I’m sure you would agree? While we leave those trends behind, moving into 2020 also means that we have plenty of trends to look forward to and experiment with. Here at The Chic Man, we know you will be wanting to keep up with the latest fashion trends, so we’ve picked out our top 5 to look out for, so you can get on the bandwagon early and be a true trendsetter!
1.Cross Body Bags
The first men’s fashion trend of 2020 is one that you might recognize already. The cross body bag has become more and more popular over the last 12 months of so, but we think that in 2020 – this trend will blow up. There are a few different kinds of cross body bags to try out with your style. However, the most popular versions are the messenger-style. You might initially think of high school students with bags too big for them when you hear of ‘messenger bags’, but there are plenty more stylish options available these days. Even with the simple bag, there are ways to spruce up the outfit. Tie a knot in the bag’s strap, or tighten it a lot smaller to sit across your chest, and your outfit will be transformed. Whilst also being a fashion statement, the bag will also improve an everyday outfit. One of the most popular applications of a cross body bag is when heading to music festivals or sports events. They have plenty of space for your valuables, meaning they are never far from your person and you will always feel safe.
2. Cuban Collared Shirts
The Cuban Collar Shirt might seem a bit Miami Vice, but they are back with a vengeance ready for summer 2020! Everyone knows what the Cuban Collar looks like, it’s an iconic look. The deep, creased collar is about as summery a look as you can get. There are a couple of different variety of Cuban shirts however. There are the solid block color shirts, or the classic patterned print shirts that wouldn’t look out of place on a beach in Honolulu. That means that even if you aren’t as comfortable wearing a completely ‘out there’ shirt, you can still opt for the classic solid color shirts and still keep up with this trend. To accompany the Cuban shirt, a good pair of sunglasses (we’ll move onto those later!) and a good watch wouldn’t go a miss. Even kick back to the late 2000’s and rock a pair of chinos with boat shoes to go for the full Cuban look. It’s time to embrace this style for the summer, so why not go the full way!
3. Patchwork Prints
Sticking with the South Beach theme, our next trend is straight out of Versace’s sketch book – Patchwork Prints. The most common way to rock a patchwork print is with a casual shirt. Either head to the high street and get a ready-made patchwork shirt, or if you’re handy with a needle, why not make your own? Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch, but some of the charm of patchwork is the mixing and matching of previous styles to make something completely new. With such an out there design for your shirt, you’ll want to stick with a plain white, black or grey shirt underneath. Anything more than that and you’ll risk mashing up too many colors. Pair those with a pair of solid black jeans and the outfit will be complete. Don’t worry about looking foolish with such a different design. Most people who see you will be in awe at how well the different styles work, and will probably be planning a trip to pick up some patchwork of their own.
4. Shielded Sunglasses
Well we said we would get round to sunglasses, and 2020 will be the year of the shielded sunglasses! Not sure what they are? Shielded sunglasses are made of one large lens, rather than the traditional two smaller ones across each eye. The glasses look like they are coming from the year 3020, rather than 2020, but they are a perfect way to pull together an outfit and make a statement. If you are feeling bold, there are shielded sunglasses that can cover basically your whole face, but you can also choose a subtler pair if that is your style. As well as different sizes, there are literally hundreds of color ways to choose from to make sure you can complete any outfit. Keep an eye out for shielded sunglasses in the summer of 2020, but also try to get ahead of the curve by picking up a pair to wear now, whatever the weather.
5. Double Strapped Sandals
It seems like most of the trends for 2020 will come around in the summer, and our final trend is no different. Sandals are hardly a revolutionary trend, but double strap sandals are normally reserved for your grandparents. As of now though, double strap sandals are back and are a thing of the present. Not only are they actually fashionable when worn with the right outfit, but they are also extremely comfortable! They provide more support than the traditional sandal, combining fashion and comfort. There are actually few trouser types that the sandals won’t go with. Where you are trying out jeans, suit pants, or even rocking a pair of flares, the double strapped sandal won’t look out of place. All it takes is the confidence to be able to pull them off and everyone will be looking at you with envy for pulling off another killer look.
